PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass, mirrors, and sealant products. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.


Main job purpose


To drive the optimisation of purchasing processes, inventory management, operational supplier management and reliability to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness. To reduce the Procurement spend on a consistent basis through the implementation and continuous improvement of strategic sourcing initiatives.


Main Objective


To lead category spend analysis and full value procurement through cross functional teams at PFG (and across the Group).

Drive and implement commodity strategies and negotiate contracts and SLAs in the most cost effective manner.

Reduce procurement spend on a consistent basis through continuous improvement and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives.

Drive and optimise the purchasing processes, Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and supply management with PFG (and other divisions) to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness as well as supplier reliability.

To manage risk effectively by ensuring continuity of supply and that all risk factors are identified and mitigated.

To ensure that all processes are aligned and SARS compliant.

Drive to meet procurement BBBEE legislative targets.

Provide proactive Procure to Pay support and guidance to ensure adherence to best practice and corporate governance.

To ensure that Procurement policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.

To ensure that staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through talent management and IDP processes.

•             Purchasing Management/Logistics or Supply Chain 3 Year Diploma




•             Full Value Procurement (TCO)   

•             Material Requirement Planning (MRP)

•             BBBEE Knowledge          

•             MS Office (Intermediate Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

•             SHERQ/Risk Management           

•             SAP Material Management Module

•             Strategic Supplier & Cost Management 

•             Contract/ SLA Management

•             SARS Legislation knowledge and experience: SARS Compliance and Risk Management
