The PG Group is committed to investing in South Africa and previously disadvantaged individuals. The Group participates actively in social responsibility programmes and has also taken the lead in furthering Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment in the glass industry. The focus areas of the PG Group are as follows:
Building human capacity and talent through skills development;
Facilitating the development of smaller BEE enterprises; and
Implementing social upliftment initiatives.
Through these initiatives, PG Group aims to create opportunities for integrating previously disadvantaged South African’s in the mainstream economy, focusing specifically in areas where PG Group has a presence. Initiatives include but are not limited to –
Support for community education facilities; programmes at secondary and tertiary education level; bursaries and scholarships;
Community training focussing on the youth; skills development for the unemployed; basic education and training in communities;
Arts, Culture and Sport development programmes for the youth; and
Support of health and HIV/AIDS programmes for the youth.
