VACANCY: Boilermaker – Shatterprufe Ga-Rankuwa

Position: Artisan
Reporting to: Mechanical Superintendent

Main Job Purpose

To support production in the fabrication of steel structures and mechanical maintenance of equipment to optimise production and minimise downtime.

Main Objectives

• Fabricate steel structures as per design specifications within the agreed time to support the line.

• Service moving parts and equipment that operate primarily on mechanical (not electronic) principles to maintain machinery and eliminate machine downtime.

• Conduct preventative maintenance according to schedule to minimise downtime.

• Support manufacturing in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and structural equipment to ensure optimal machine performance.

• Ensure the safe operation of all machinery and equipment during shifts in line with the OHS Act and company safety standards, including safety permit requirements.

• Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision-making in the business.

• Assist the engineering team in problem-solving exercises to support continuous improvement.

Critical Job Requirements

1. Qualifications

• Grade 12.

• Trade Test qualification in Boilermaking.

• N4 or equivalent NQF qualification in the field of Boilermaking.

2. Knowledge

• Knowledge of equipment maintenance.

• Knowledge of mechanical/equipment selection.

• Quality control analysis.

• Troubleshooting.

• Operation monitoring.

3. Skills

• Communication skills (verbal and written).

• Attention to detail/Meticulous.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Troubleshooting skills.

• Planning and organising.

• Systematic thinking.

• Problem-solving skills.

4. Experience

• 5 years' experience as a Boilermaker.

• 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment.
