Main Job Purpose

To assume overall accountability for the financial reporting of the Site and to support the Site Manufacturing Management Team in achieving the financial and operational objectives set for the plant. The role requires active participation in site management activities and acting as custodian of good Corporate Governance to ensure integrity in financial performance reporting.

Main Objectives

  • Drive business results through a World-Class Controller function by ensuring short interval controls are in place.

  • Lead cost-saving initiatives while adhering to strict budget controls and sound Corporate Governance and Internal Controls.

  • Ensure stock accuracy and working capital optimisation by auditing cycle counts, reviewing slow-moving stock, and optimising stock holding in collaboration with Logistics and Planning.

  • Provide accurate financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring all balance sheet items are reconciled.

  • Ensure accurate product costing, identify cost-saving opportunities, and review loss percentages and standards.

  • Support the Site Management Team by calculating the financial impact of key decisions and participating in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.

  • Deliver value-adding reporting to assist in achieving site strategic goals.

  • Effectively manage and develop the Cost Accountant through performance management, disciplinary procedures, talent management, and Individual Development Plans (IDPs).

  • Deliver accurate, timely, and appropriate forecasts and budgets in line with business timelines and reporting deadlines.

  • Ensure effective communication of relevant financial information to all stakeholders to support sound decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Matric

  • BCom Accounting

Knowledge

  • Financial Accounting Principles

  • Cost Accounting Principles, product costing, and analysis

  • Budgeting and forecasting

  • Reporting and presentation of financial results

  • Corporate Governance

  • Working knowledge of integrated SAP

  • Knowledge of the Companies Act (CPA)

  • Sound IFRS knowledge

Experience

  • 5 years’ Management Accounting experience
