Widney Transport Components is a supplier of specialist commercial vehicle glass and sliding window solutions. The company supplies solutions to the bus and train industry and is the only local accredited sliding window supplier for Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors, Nissan and Ford.

Job Title: Junior Design and Development Engineer - Alberton (Johannesburg)

Main job purpose

To provide technical and administrative support to the Design and Development activities, with regards to all products and/
or new business initiatives in order to improve the output of the department, thereby ensuring a faster response time to
internal and external customer queries.

Job objectives

• To support the development department by providing technical and administrative support to ensure that parts are produced to the customer specific requirements and specifications.
• To review and update customer timing plans to share progess with all project stakeholders and ensure seamless running of projects in line with customer time frame and expectations.
• To effectively assist in the design, fabrication, testing and implementation of products for the business in order to satisfy customer requirements in line with project plans, specifications and agreed budgets.
• To provide support to the development department for the process of reverse engineering of new products to be sourced to ensure product availability for launch.
• To provide support to the development department to ensure that all relevant documentation relating to products and processes are created, up-to-date, stored and implemented.
• To assist the development department with identifying and implementing product and process improvements on an ongoing basis to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
• Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business.

Critical Job Requirements

Grade 12

National Diploma in Engineering or equivalent

Knowledge

Working knowledge of engineering principle related to engineering design and metrology

Understanding process flows in relation to systematic problem solving ina production environment

Understanding of Engineering Project management as a team member.

Working knowledge of CAD software with the ability to apply skills to various CAD platforms.
