Widney Transport Components is a supplier of specialist commercial vehicle glass and sliding window solutions. The company supplies solutions to the bus and train industry and is the only local accredited sliding window supplier for Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors, Nissan and Ford.

Job Title: Logistics Manager – Alrode, Alberton

A vacancy has arisen at Widney Transport for a Logistics Manager.  This position is a JM position reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Main job purpose 

To ensure the efficient management of people and non-people resources to drive production efficiency and maintaining 100% delivery performance at optimal stock levels.

Main Objective 

• To manage finished goods inventory to ensure customer supply and demand is met in line with agreed standards and time frames.
• To ensure effective planning of the plant in line with production order so that agreed OEE targets are met in line with budget and site plan.
• To ensure minimum stock levels are maintained and readily available for use in production balancing production requirements and stock holding.
• To ensure that effective communication is in place within customers and production to eliminate any unnecessary surprises to parties and to grow trust relationships.
• To drive and maintain agreed raw material holdings and ensure obsolete stock is closely managed to support site business and financial targets.
• To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes to drive capability in business.
• Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business.

Critical job requirements 

Grade 12 

Diploma in Logistics or related field

Knowledge 

Good understanding of production planning, material and warehousing

ERP/MRP

SAP

Microsoft Office

Experience 

5 years’ experience in planning and logistics

2 years leadership experience

3 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
