Machine Setter/Operator - Widney

Widney Transport Components is a supplier of specialist commercial vehicle glass and sliding window solutions. The company supplies solutions to the bus and train industry and is the only local accredited sliding window supplier for Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors, Nissan and Ford.

Job Title: Operator - Alrode, Alberton

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

• Read and measure incoming glass accurately with a tape measure
• Handling and inspecting all incoming aluminium for irregular breaks, scratches and uneven edges.
• Perform minor routine maintenance on machines
• Read and fill out proper documentation (hard copies and electronically)
• Observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices or conditions.
• Work according to standard operating procedure (SOP)
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized area at all times
• Maintain daily production record such as quantity, dimensions, square meters, cubic meters and material type by means of a standardised production sheet
• Properly handle all chemical within safety guidelines
• Properly label and pack aluminium on the racks/trolleys
• Ensure that aluminium moving to the next station is properly labelled and accompanied by the right job card and drawings
• Load and offload materials onto or from pallets, racks and shelves by hand
• Cleaning work area, machines and equipment
• Sign off job card after completing the job
• Help out with other production/operations duties depending on glass production requirements            

CRITICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION(S):       

Matric

1 year manufacturing experience in a similar role

High sense of emergency

Proven analytical and numerical skills

Computer literacy

Ability to read, understand and interpret 2D drawings

Proficient in the proper use of precision measuring equipment
