Main job purpose

Install, test, and do fault-finding on instrumentation and control systems. Reduce breakdowns affecting the production machinery through performing planned preventative maintenance to ensure that the plant is functioning at optimal efficiency, with minimal downtime. 

 

Main Objectives

  • Ensure that routine maintenance work is carried out in accordance with maintenance schedules; work instructions; works procedures; and quality assurance plans while making sure that work complies to accepted safety standards and maintaining high levels of workmanship.
  • Ensure that planned repair work and restore breakdowns are carried out with minimum delay.
  • Manage and develop a maintenance philosophy for each item of control equipment and engineering service to ensure maximum plant availability
  • Provide schedules for preventative maintenance service equipment to ensure schedules are updated and adhered to
  • Must have good Microsoft Excel knowledge in order to generate reports and graphs
  • Record all the work done in the time-record work book and report any adverse plant conditions to the maintenance supervisor.
  • To ensure that the relevant designs and drawings are to the required specification
  • To adhere and be responsible for ISO 9000 in areas of plant and equipment for which is responsible

 

Critical job requirements

Qualification:

Grade 12

Instrumentation Trade Certificate

N5 Qualification

Knowledge:

Instrumentation knowledge

Knowledge of safety standards

Computer Literacy

Knowledge in PLC & SCADA

Knowledge of pneumatics/hydraulics, pumps and gearboxes

Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills

Team Player

Be able to handle production challenges

MS Office

Experience: 

At least 5 years in a manufacturing environment

Experience in cost centre budge control and reporting of expenditures

Experience in Conveyers, pneumatics/hydraulics, pumps and gearboxes
