PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass and mirrors. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.

Main job purpose

To support manufacturing sites in installing, maintaining, upgrading and fabricating machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings to maintain machine availability and improve uptime.

Main Objectives

• Ensure maintenance for production is carried out in all aspects to maintain plant availability and achieve production yields.
• Assess breakdowns, repair and/or call relevant personnel to ensure minimum downtime in the event of machine breakdowns.
• Alterations, modifications and installation of equipment to provide continuous operation of equipment within production line.
• Knowledge of PLC, variable speed drives, AC & DC motors and HT & LT transformers would be advantageous.
• Usage of mechanical measuring equipment and electrical test equipment and maintenance thereof, including off take devices.
• Perform emergency procedures like switching of standby alternators and restoration of power, timeously.
• Perform maintenance activities including plant inspections and housekeeping.
• Adhere to safety standards to ensure that risks are minimized.

Grade 12

Trade Test Certificate - Millwright

N4 – N6 Qualification

Knowledge:

PLC system

Variable speed drives

Measuring equipment.

Experience:

3 - 5 years post apprenticeship experience gained in a manufacturing environment.
