Electrical Engineer - PFG

PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass, mirrors, and sealant products. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.

Main job purpose

To effectively execute projects and site maintenance with special focus on electrical infrastructure (supply and distribution to point of consumption).  In addition a high level of support is given to the operations and maintenance engineering sections w.r.t. electrical systems and backup power.

Main Objective

Lead specific projects to meet the agreed requirement (in respect of design, specification, execution, commissioning and handover) on time and within budget.

Ensure adherence to safety and legal requirements as per the OHS-Act for projects and contractors.

Ensure project, design, execution and commissioning standards are met.

Ensure project procedures and standards are followed and adhered to for all CAPEX and Extra-Ordinary Projects.

Initiating and administrating contracts in conjunction with the procurement department.

Manage the maintenance of Site Infrastructure and Services (electricity reticulation, etc.).

Provide electrical expertise to ensure effective, safe and continuous operations and legal compliance.

Critical job requirements

Qualification(s)             

•             Grade 12             

•             Relevant Degree:  BSc Electrical Engineering or

•             National Diploma – Electrical

•             GCC would be an advantage
