Engineering Operator - Springs

PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass, mirrors, and sealant products. The company produces 260,000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying both domestic and international building and automotive industries.

Main Job Purpose:

To maintain, repair and install mechanical and electrical/control plant and equipment in assistance to the qualified artisan.

Main Objective:

• Assist Mechanical Artisans with plant maintenance and lubrication of equipment
• Cutting, grinding, welding and general fitting tasks.
• Minor repairs and maintenance on non-critical mechanical/electrical/control plant items.
• Maintain high standards of ISO, Health and Safety.
• Housekeeping & 5’S

Qualifications:

            Grade 12

Skills:

           Skills training specific to either mechanical, electrical or control functions.

           Problem solving Skills

Knowledge:

            knowledge on the correct usage of tools (Mechanical and electrical)

Experience:                         

           One year (minimum) practical workshop experience after successful completion of skills training.

           General maintenance exposure in a factory or heavy manufacturing environment.

           Preferable  Glass Industry Experience.

           Practical training in a workshop and the correct usage of tools
