Main job purpose

 

To generate, analyse and report financial information to relevant stakeholders in order for the business to make informed business decisions that will result in overall sustainability and profit; and to provide financial and business process control.

 

Main Objective

 

Support the Finance Department through the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data, verifying the validity, completeness and accuracy of transactions.

Maintain complete and proper records of revenue, expenditure, assets and liabilities, through reviewing and reconciling of General Ledger accounts ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Analyse and interpret divisional financial performance in order to facilitate business decision making.

Prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts and cost efficiencies in order to measure operational and business performance by comparing against budget, forecast and historical results.

Maintain oversight over Debtors collections to achieve collection KPI’s working with Group Credit and in line with PG Group credit policies and procedures.

Ensuring that the business adheres to all internal policies and procedures as well as all relevant external legislation and good corporate governance on an ongoing basis.

Ensure the costing structure is regularly reviewed to optimise profitability for the business.

Liaise with various stakeholders and departments to obtain information, investigate issues identified and facilitate action plans to improve financial performance, profit margins and working capital on a weekly and monthly basis.

To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes

 

Critical job requirements

Qualification(s) 

 

•            Grade 12            

•            BCom Finance Degree

             

Knowledge        

 

•            Financial accounting principles    

•            Cost accounting principles, product costing and analysis

•            Knowledge of good corporate governance

•            Working knowledge of budgeting and forecasting skills

•            Working knowledge of reconciliations       

•            Import and/or export accounting (forex accounting).

 

Skills     

 

•            Computer Skills (MS Office and SAP)         

•            Planning and Organising

•            Time Management          

•            Detail Orientated

•            Reporting Skills  

 

Experience

                            

•            5 years experience as an Accountant
