PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass and mirrors. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.

 

Main job purpose

To ensure operational supplier management and control over imports across PFG Building Glass. To ensure that effective and efficient processes are in place, thereby guaranteeing supply, minimizing risk, reducing costs and regulating compliance.

 

Main Objective

  • Manage the procurement in line with the Company's Procurement Policies & Procedures and coordinate the importation of goods by ensuring compliance with regulations and governing bodies.
  • Achieve procurement cost reduction and savings by conducting standard RFQ /Tender processes and ensuring that imports across PFG Building Glass are procured in the most cost effective and efficient manner, including freight and forwarding.
  • Timeously convert, track, receive and cost Import orders to efficiently service and ensure continuous supply PFG Building Glass.   
  • Renegotiate supplier payment Terms for improved cash flow and financial flexibility.  
  • Benchmarking / Tender and re-evaluating sourcing of the import supply chain to ensure PFG receives the most cost efficient offering. 
  • Minimize risk by ensuring continuity of supply of specified products by monitoring supplier performance. 
  • Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports to Line Management for effective decision making.
  • Drive and implement commodity strategies and negotiate PFG Building Glass contracts and SLA's to maximize savings.
  • Achieve requisite BBBEE Preferential Procurement by procuring from BBBEE compliant companies and driving ED/SD 
  • Ad hoc procurement activities/General administrative tasks to support the procurement team.

Matric certificate

Diploma/Degree in Logistic or Supply Chain Management

Knowledge

Supply Chain Knowledge

Import knowledge

ERP System

Skills

Knowledge of regulatory requirements per product & country

Knowledge of ISO requirement, Incoterms, International documentation, SARS and DTI requirements

Export knowledge beneficial

Legislations: VAT Act, Reserve Bank & SARS Regulations & requirements

Experience

8 Years procurement experience

Import experience

Ability to deal with people at all levels
