Main job purpose
- To provide independent assurance that risk management, governance, compliance and control processes are adequate and operating effectively, thereby supporting business in a achieving its operational objectives.
Main Objective
- Plan and agree the scope of audits / reviews / projects with related divisional Internal Audit Manager.
- Mapping / unpacking of business processes to evaluate the effectiveness of the control environment.
- Identifying key and compensating controls, testing its adequacy and effectiveness as it relates to remediating control risk.
- Assessing compliance with policies, standards, procedures, regulatory prescripts and business practices.
- Analysing data during audits / reviews to identify key control and operational efficiency risks and/or non-compliance to prescribed policies, standards, procedures, regulatory prescripts or business practices.
- Attend stock counts as required during scheduled audits and reviews.
- Compile audit working papers for review.
- Draft concise risk based audit reports for discussion with the business, highlighting root causes, its impact as well as practical, cost effective and value adding recommendations.
- Agree recommended remediation, allocated responsible manager as well as reasonable timeframe for implementation.
- Follow-up on agreed action to address and mitigate control risk exposure, and complete monthly observation & audit activity trackers, in order to effectively track and drive timely close-out.
- Collate and summarise divisional audit findings, identifying control trends for input in monthly audit and risk feedback to divisional Exco/s.
- Conduct ad-hoc supply chain, operational, financial governance and/or value added reviews, whilst maintaining functional independence.
- Provide forensic assignment support in an auditing capacity to applicable lead investigator.
Critical job requirements
- Grade 12
- B Degree relevant and in support of Governance / Risk Management / Internal Audit / Finance/ Supply Chain
- Honours / Post Graduate degree in Accounting or Internal Auditing
- Professional certification i.e. CIA / CA (SA)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years (including articles) professional experience in Governance / Risk Management / Internal Audit / Finance
- Risk based auditing techniques
- Client liaison and relations management
- 2 to 3 years supervisory experience in an audit environment
- Manufacturing and / or Retail
