Lead strategic initiatives, optimize processes, and foster continuous improvement while managing inventory, distribution, and a dynamic team.  

 

Main job purpose: 

Manage all PFG warehousing and Transport Operations to ensure a Safe and Efficient operation and to service and support the PFG customer base in a sustainable manner across all markets. 

 

Main Objective: 

  • Manage all warehouse personnel, including: Performance management and employee        development.
  • Benchmark, review and introduce systems to optimise efficient delivery of warehouse services in a sustainable manner.
  • Coordinate delivery of services with other PG Group Operations to promote synergy and grow so as to provide strategic partnerships that enhance.
  • The development and Implementation of new business processes, handling equipment, product packaging, transport equipment and resourcing as and when required by changes in business requirements or strategic direction.
  • Effective management of Inventory and Distribution activities in and out of the Warehouses, including the management of group tenants sharing these facilities.
  • Delivery of consistent, accurate and on-time reporting which include operational and financial analysis highlighting key risk and opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to all quality control systems including, ISO 9000
  • Drive the introduction of World Class performance and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate adherence to the PFG business integration planning and ensure order execution
  • Manage departmental budget and costs and Develop Capex plan for the development and implementation of new warehouse and transport initiatives over a three year window.
  • Manage and Control Safety in the Logistics environment to ensure a safe and functional work environment in line with OSH Act and PFG Requirements across all Warehouse and Transport Operations.
  • Participate in assisting customers and other PG Group Companies to set up and start new operations, including: Facility selection, Material Handling and Racking selection, assistance with facility layouts and the training of staff to safely handle glass.

 

Qualifications: 

Grade 12 

BCom Degree in Industrial Engineering or Logistics Management

 

Knoweldge: 

Knowledge of relevant legislation (LRA, OSH Act & Road Traffic Act)ng & transport

Microsoft Proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS BI)

Transport Management 

Continuous improvement and World Class Manufacturing systems

Working knowledge in Logistics & Supply Chain Management

Quality Management

Diverse work experience in different organisational functions and areas

Working knowledge of SAP (SD,PP and MM)

Warehouse & Transport Management

People leadership

Experience:

8-10 Years of Operational Management Experience in Supply Chain Environment or Manufacturing environment

Transport Environment

Experience in implementing WCM & driving CI Projects

5 Years General Management in a small to medium Logistics or Manufacturing environment

Planning Environment

Working knowledge of Six Sigma

Warehouse Environment 

Procurement Environment
