PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass and mirrors. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.
Main job purpose:
To lead and effectively manage the Cold End operations, ensuring the constant achievement of world-class manufacturing standards measured against international benchmarks through the effective optimisation of human resources, financial resources, equipment, and systems, and by ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation
Main Objective:
- Responsible for day-to-day performance/productivity of the Cold End team, driving achievement of targets aligned with business objectives.
- Coordinate Cold End activities across departments to ensure objectives are met.
- Ensure a safe working environment by identifying, monitoring, and addressing safety hazards in line with relevant legislation.
- Identify team development needs, create IDPs, and ensure training and up-skilling are in place.
- Manage Float Line expenditure budget.
- Drive World Class Manufacturing standards through VPM, 5S, teamwork, and focused improvement.
- Ensure staff are effectively managed through performance and disciplinary procedures, and are developed through talent management and IDP processes.
- Continuously optimize Cold End operations to achieve optimal outputs and reduce costs in line with World Class Manufacturing Standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation (LRA, BCEA, Environment, Safety, and Quality).
- Ensure the production of high-standard quality products in line with customer specifications.
Critical Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Grade 12
Relevant Diploma (with experience) or Degree (Science, Engineering, Production Management)
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation (SHERQ, BCEA, LRA)
Knowledge of Human Resource policies and procedures
Working knowledge of SAP (HR and Production)
Skills:
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote)

10 years in a manufacturing/technical environment
5 years in a leadership or management role
