The company manufactures genuine Shatterprufe® laminated windscreens and Armourplate® toughened automotive safety glass products. Shatterprufe® products are installed by Original Motor manufacturers in Southern Africa.
Main job purpose
- To co-ordinate, plan and control the operation in order to timeously produce an acceptable quality product at optimum productivity levels, whilst maintaining the required level of loss / rework factors, housekeeping and budgetary controls and ensuring continuous improvement thinking is embedded in the team.
Main Objective
- Manage and maintain production area in line with quality requirements and standards to ensure production plan is achieved by maximising machine and labour utilisation and the effective management of live visual boards.
- To ensure quality standards are maintained through daily FPA result reviews and to adhere to ISO Quality Standards and to ensure workforce is trained on quality procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.
- To ensure that direct labour cost and variable costs are controlled within budget in order to achieve overall business plan whilst driving efficient improvement.
- To establish, monitor and control operating budgets to ensure efficient cost control and to compile budgets annually from zero base.
- Responsible and accountable for all activities with regard to site business system procedures, work instructions and to present accurate and timeous reports to enable business evaluation and decisions-making.
- To ensure all employees in area are trained on safety and housekeeping standards and to ensure corrective/preventative measures are implemented in accordance to safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- To drive continuous improvement programs in order to reduce loss, downtime and increase process capability to maintain competitiveness.
- To ensure that stock levels are maintained at set levels and adapted to customer demands to ensure no customer line stoppages due to non-delivery of good parts on time.
- To ensure routine, preventative and predictive maintenance for the equipment on site is managed and monitored in line with schedule to achieve 95% machine availability.
- To closely manage logistic requirements to ensure all audit quantities are delivered to customer in line with customer specifications and requirements including 100% compliance with packaging standards.
- To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes to drive capability in business.
- To ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business.
Critical job requirements
- Grade 12
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical/ Industrial Engineering
- 10 years experience in an operational, production or related role
- 8 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- 8 Years management experience

- Working knowledge of SPC, FMEA and SOP's
