PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass and mirrors. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.
Main job purpose
Manage the quality process and systems in the Value Added Operations to ensure that quality performance is measured and complies with the specified Standards and Customer Specification requirements to support production capabilities
Main Objective
- Ensure a safe work environment by monitoring and driving compliance to all Company policies and procedures.
- Manages the activities and outputs of the SQC Mirror & Laminates Inspectors and responsible to ensure that they perform the tests and comply with the standards thereby allowing glass that complies with the specifications to be placed in stock.
- Manage the identification of deviations from the standards arising in early detection of the deviations resulting in glass being quarantined to ensure that the manufacturing process is corrected timeously and minimise customer complaints.
- Act as the liaison between quality and production on the shop floor to ensure that the requisite inspection controls are in place and adjustments are made to quality specifications or frequency of glass inspections based on Operational requirement.
- Manage the activities of the SQC Inspectors to ensure that the quality controls are executed correctly.
- Responsible for keeping the Quality Statistics up to date to ensure that problems are escalated and resolved, issues a monthly report.
- Manage and implement the introduction of standard operating and risk procedures including safety protocols for the Examiners
- Record all complaints on the QA system and manage any corrective action reviews in order to build and enhance customer relationships internally and externally.
- Manage and control internal audits to identify potential risk areas and make corrective recommendations.

Relevant tertiary qualification
8 years in Manufacturing environment
3 Years in Management
