VACANCY: Shift Manager - Shatterprufe (BTR)

 

vacancy for Shift Manager has arisen at our Shatterprufe Neave plant in Port Elizabeth.  This is a Junior Manager position reporting to the BTR Stream Manager. 

 

Main job purpose

 

To lead the value stream or process on a shift so as to consistently maximize throughput, productivity and product quality whilst minimizing wastage and cost by ensuring the most effective utilization of all resources within the operation to contribute to the achievement of departmental and overall business goals.

 

 

Main Objective

 

To lead the team to achieve maximum throughput with minimum downtime and minimum defective products to achieve departmental and overall business goals.

To ensure effective production planning and material flow to meet customer requirements to achieve maximum throughput while ensuring standard hourly volumes and losses are adhered to.

Timeous detection and response to deviations from the set standards to minimise downtime and to ensure optimisation of cycle times, loss level and machine availability.

To ensure the execution of QC checks and feedback loops to support QA objectives by conducting layered audits as per prescribed schedules.

To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes to drive capability in the business.

To ensure 5S housekeeping is practiced and safety standards driven in order to achieve Company safety objectives.

To control all costs related to the issue and usage of all consumables in order to achieve the departmental operating budget.

To ensure good and effective communication through the transfer of critical and important information to incoming shifts to avoid delays to production schedules.

 

 

 

Critical job requirements

 

Qualification(s)

 

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Engineering or Production Management
 

 

 

 

Knowledge

 

  • Knowledge and applicable standard problem solving techniques
  • Demonstrate an understanding and application of WCM and Lean Principles
  • Knowledge of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Legal Requirements and Systems
  • Industrial Relations knowledge

Experience

 

 

  • 5 years production or manufacturing experience
