Warehouse Supervisor (Despatch) - Alberton

Widney Transport Components is a supplier of specialist commercial vehicle glass and sliding window solutions. The company supplies solutions to the bus and train industry and is the only local accredited sliding window supplier for Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors, Nissan and Ford.

Main job purpose

• To effectively manage and coordinate on time order completion, loading, and delivery of orders to ensure overall customer satisfaction.

Main Objective

• To ensure staff activities are managed effectively on a daily basis by allocating and coordinating tasks, on the job training where required and providing staff with relevant resources to function effectively.
• To maintain the accurate management of time and attendance, overtime for both permanent and temporary staff to ensure data integrity.
• To ensure that goods are accurately dispatched, packed and loaded according to customer requirements and maintain the turnaround time for customer collections.
• To control the adherence of the drivers with the set departure and arrival times in order to meet delivery times and customer expectations.
• To accurately maintain full truck utilization on the local trucks and reduce wasted space and travel times, by using newly developed truck utilization tracker with mileages.
• To adhere to stock accuracy, optimal stock levels and stock correctly re-labelled to resolve customer complaints which are vital to the operation, to meet budgeted targets.
• To attend to communication timeously of the correct allocation of packing material numbers used by the sales personnel, thereby ensuring 100% accurate invoicing of boxing charges.
• To maintain housekeeping of the warehouse on a daily basis by attending to trolleys and cages in order to prevent any damages.
• To ensure effective management of inventory queries by accurately investigating, and resolving queries within the same day received.
• To ensure inspection of damaged stock daily and report to Manager by completing DMRs timeously.

Critical job requirements

• Grade 12    
• Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent
• Warehouse and Logistics experience
• Forecasting and Planning experience   
• Exposure to IR related matters
• People Management        
• 2 years in a manufacturing/logistics environment       

Knowledge 

• Knowledge of SAP 
• Knowledge of Health & Safety in a warehousing environment
• Working knowledge of optimizing warehouse efficiency         
• Working knowledge of current best practices in operations and warehouse management

Skills

• Customer relationship management
